Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the most important thing to know about Brother Cookie?

That you should call ahead! During the day we’ll have most of our cookies ready to go, but towards close (and even sometimes well before close) we often sell out of some if not all of the varieties. If you give us a ring at 352-554-4069 we’ll be happy to set aside whatever we’ve got for you.

Where are you located?

Our store is at 401 NE 23rd Ave, Gainesville, 32609. It’s next to TB Goods, diagonally across the intersection from Ollie’s.

What are your hours?

We may close early if we sell out, which happens fairly often.

Monday & Tuesday CLOSED

Wednesday Noon-8PM

Thursday, Friday, Saturday Noon-11PM

Sunday Noon-8PM

Are any of your cookies vegan or gluten-free?

We have a great Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie! It’s made with coconut oil and tahini, and most of the people who buy it aren’t even vegan! Please note that it’s made with conventional sugar on equipment thats processes dairy and eggs.

How fresh are my cookies?

We bake small batches of cookies throughout the day, so often they’re straight out of the oven and they’re never more than a few hours old.

Do you bake to order?

We don’t. Logistically it wouldn’t be possible (we’re a very small kitchen that gets very busy). That said, we bake throughout the day so your cookies will never be more than a few hours out of the oven, and we can always warm them up for you if you ask.

What is the best way to store the cookies once I’ve received them?

We recommend enjoying our cookies at their peak freshness, but we understand if you’re more of a savorer than a gobbler.  If you’re planning to consume the cookies within a week, they’re best stored in a sealed, airtight container with a slice of bread inside. Any bread will do— it helps to keep the cookies moist. If you’d like to store the cookies longer, they make a delicious cold treat straight out of the freezer.

What’s the best way to reheat your cookies?

Here is the definitive ranking of reheating methods:

  1. Toaster oven set to 350 for a few minutes

  2. Oven set to 350 for a few minutes

  3. Microwave in 10 second intervals (the microwave really is inferior to the toaster oven & oven for reheating cookies)

  4. Place your cookie on the hot sidewalk and guard it from birds and squirrels for 10 minutes

What can I do to support Brother Cookie (other than order cookies)?

Positive reviews on Google, Yelp, Facebook help a lot! Links to the Yelp and Facebook pages are in the icons in the navigation bar. For Google, just search for us on, yup, Google. Thank you!

How can I keep up with the latest flavors?

Follow us on Instagram or Facebook for updates on our specials, which change (very) roughly every 3 weeks.
